The former US president believes that the power must be returned to the police, or the country will never be safe.
The increase in crime in major US cities shows that the measures taken in some regions to reduce police funding were a mistake. This opinion was expressed by former US President Donald Trump; a corresponding statement was distributed on Tuesday by his press service.
“Former Senator Barbara Boxer was attacked and robbed yesterday in Oakland, where police funding was previously cut. Our once great cities-New York, Detroit, San Francisco, and many others – have become a haven for criminals because of the Democrats. We must give power back to the police, or America will never be safe. We cannot allow the Communist Democrats to destroy our great cities. If we don’t stop them, we will lose our country forever,” Trump believes.
An increase in crime, including violent crimes and crimes committed with the use of firearms, is recorded in some major American cities. For example, in New York in 2019, 777 shooting incidents were recorded, and in 2020 – 1,531 cases. The number of murders increased from 319 to 462. In the first six months of this year, the number of crimes involving firearms has increased again – by 38% compared to the same period last year.
