US President Donald Trump has decided to lower the limit of admission of refugees in the 2020 fiscal year (began on October 1) to 18 thousand people. This was reported in a statement issued by the press service of the White House order of the American leader.
“The admission of no more than 18,000 refugees to the United States in the fiscal year 2020 is justified from a humanitarian point of view and is in the national interest,” the document says.
In fiscal year 2019, the limit was 30 thousand people. Thus, almost half reduce the reception of refugees.
Earlier, Trump also issued an executive order, according to which the resettlement of refugees in the country should be made in most cases only with the consent of local and state authorities.
