US President Donald Trump has given permission, if necessary, to use the country’s available strategic reserves of oil after the attacks on the oil facilities of Saudi Arabia to stabilize the situation in the market. The American leader announced his decision on Twitter.
“Given the attacks on Saudi Arabia, which could affect oil prices, I allowed the use of oil from the strategic oil reserve, if necessary, in the amounts that will be set and which should be sufficient to maintain a normal level of supply to the markets,” he said.
Trump added that the US is waiting for Riyadh considerations about who was behind the attack on Saudi Aramco, and will act on this basis. “The oil sector of Saudi Arabia was attacked. There is the reason to believe that we know who is responsible, we are on full alert, and everything will depend on the confirmation, but we are waiting for the Kingdom to say as to who they think was behind the attack and how we should proceed,” he said.
As reported on Sunday by the Wall Street Journal, citing a source in the government of Saudi Arabia, the authorities of this country expect that the national oil company Saudi Aramco will be able to restore oil production by a third by the evening of September 16.
