Trump accused the media of distorting information about the protests

Trump accused the media of distorting data about the participation of Federal forces in the crackdown on protests in Seattle and Portland, he said on Monday.

“The national security forces and Federal forces are very little involved in Seattle. There is a large reserve group there in case of an emergency. The media is wrong in describing this,” Trump wrote on his Twitter account.

According to him, Federal forces are also in Portland “to protect Federal property, including the courthouse, which (without them) would not have lasted a day.”

A wave of protests and riots swept through US cities after the death of an African-American man, George Floyd, in Minneapolis in May at the hands of police. Now clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement officials continue in Seattle and Portland. It is reported that in Portland, Federal agents use tear gas and stun grenades to disperse the actions.

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of state and municipal authorities, which, in his opinion, do not take the necessary measures to restore order. In this regard, in some cases, military and Federal police officers were brought into the cities, which caused dissatisfaction with local authorities, who mainly represent the Democratic Party of the United States.
