Adviser to the President of the United States Donald Trump Fiona Hill came to Moscow on an undeclared visit.
Hill is the Director of Russia and Eurasia at the US National Security Council. A delegation from the White House came with her. During the visit, hill and her colleagues met with representatives of the Russian Security Council and the Foreign Ministry.
According to the newspaper, Hill’s visit was not publicly announced by either Russian or American authorities. She repeatedly came to Russia as an adviser to the President of the United States, but Washington insisted that Hill’s visits were not covered.
Hill is the author of many books about Russia, a connoisseur of Russian and Soviet history and Russian language, including studying at the Moscow Institute of foreign languages named after Maurice Thorez. She worked for American intelligence from 2006 to 2009 and repeatedly spoke in the press criticizing Russian President Vladimir Putin.
She released a biography of the Russian President in 2013, where she warned his opponents against underestimating Putin’s strategic abilities and his ability to find weaknesses of opponents — according to Hill, this current Russian leader was taught during his work in the KGB.
