The 74th British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, best known as the BAFTA, took place over the weekend at the Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences, London. The solemn event took place without a live audience, so only the leading awards and some participants gathered in the Albert Hall. For the first time in the history of the award, the event was divided into two evenings. The main nominations were revealed on the second day.
On the red carpet, you could see Phoebe Dinevor, Hugh Grant and his wife, Guguleta Mbata-Rowe, Tom Hiddleston, Priyanka Chopra with Nick Jonas, Renee Zellweger, Cynthia Erivo, Felicity Jones and more.
The nomination for Best Film was won by the film “The Land of the Nomads,” directed by Chloe Zhao, starring Frances McDormand. The latter also received an award for Best Actress. The best Actor was named Anthony Hopkins for his role in the drama Father. The Promising Girl was named the best British film, and the best-animated film was the cartoon Soul.
Usually, the BAFTA ceremony occurs in February, but this year the event was postponed to April due to the pandemic. Oscars this year will also take place later than usual – April 25th.
