The G20 leaders were able to agree on a joint statement at the Buenos Aires summit. The Argentine leader also noted that the countries recognize that they face “many serious challenges”. The DPA agency, citing its own sources, reported that existing disagreements on important topics such as trade, climate protection and migration “had to be hidden [in the text of the statement] behind compromise formulas.”

Thus, in the final Declaration of the G20 summit, which ended on Saturday, the countries noted that the international trade system and the world trade organization (WTO) should be improved.

The leaders of the G20 countries also confirmed their readiness to strengthen confidence-building measures and work to intensify economic growth in order to overcome the remaining problems. In the final Declaration, participants also noted the importance of joint action to address the causes of people fleeing their countries. The leaders took note of the report on migration and refugees prepared by the Organization for economic cooperation and development (OECD). “We will consider how to continue the dialogue on this issue under the next chairmanship,” the statement said.

In addition, the leaders called for counteracting the use of the Internet for terrorist purposes. The group of twenty also endorsed the anti-corruption action plan for the next three years and committed itself to practical cooperation in this area, including the extradition of bribe-takers and the recovery of stolen assets.
Countries have also committed to the development of clean energy. “We recognize the key role of energy in shaping our common future and call for changes in this area that would combine its development and reduction of greenhouse gases in order to move towards a more environmentally friendly and transparent system, as well as strengthening cooperation in the energy sector,” the document says.

At the same time, as noted in paragraph 21 of the statement, “the US confirmed its intention to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement”, but also committed to economic growth and energy security.

The G20 leaders pointed to the possibility of creating new jobs and economic growth through infrastructure investment in cleaner and more sustainable energy infrastructure, including renewable energy.

In addition, the countries indicated their intention to continue the fight against inequality, to support small and medium-sized businesses, as well as to create conditions for education.

Not without detentions

All 14 people detained at the anti-globalization March in the center of Buenos Aires, where the G20 summit began on Friday, released, reports TASS. This was reported by the Minister of Security of Argentina Patricia Bullrich on Sunday.

“14 people were detained, all citizens of Argentina. As far as I know, all of them have been released to date,” she told reporters.

According to Bullrich, most of the detainees were confiscated items that could be used during the riots. There have been no serious incidents since the beginning of the summit, one cyber attack has been prevented. “The first part of our work has been completed successfully,” the Minister added.

The G20 summit in Buenos Aires (30 November-1 December) will conclude the presidency of Argentina. The next host country for the G20 will be Japan.. It is planned that the meeting will be held in Osaka on June 28-29 2019
