The WHO allowed the introduction of vaccination passports for travel

The requirement of vaccination passports as a condition for travel in conditions of a shortage of vaccines is discriminatory. Still, it can be introduced over time, Director General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a press conference in Geneva.

“We do not want vaccination passports to be used as a condition for travel because of the lack of equal distribution of vaccines. It would be a means of discrimination and would not help,” he said.

According to him, when vaccines become available to the whole world, a vaccination passport may be introduced in the future. WHO is already working with States to come up with a unified version of such a document.
