According to the transcript of the conversation, Donald Trump in April invited Vladimir Zelensky to visit the White House.
The White House on Friday released the contents of an April phone conversation during which President Donald Trump congratulated his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky on winning the election.
Trump has repeatedly said that Democrats demanded to disclose the contents of his first phone conversation with Zelensky, held on April 21, however, this conversation was not the focus of lawmakers investigating the possible impeachment of the President.
During the conversation, which lasted just under 15 minutes, Donald Trump congratulated Vladimir Zelensky on winning the election.
“I think you’ll do a great job. I have many friends in Ukraine who know you and like you. Frankly, they expected you to win. And really, what you’ve done is amazing. I think I did something similar. We have had tremendous success in the US – we have the most tremendous economic [situation] right now. I just wanted to congratulate you. I do not doubt that you will be a wonderful President, Donald Trump said, addressing Vladimir Zelensky.
Trump, according to the transcript, invited Zelensky to visit the White House back in April. “We will have a lot to discuss, but we will be with you all the time,” the President added.
