The White House announced a slowdown in the spread of coronavirus in the United States

The curve of the spread of the coronavirus is beginning to level out, white house coordinator for the fight against coronavirus Deborah Birx told reporters on Friday.

“For the first time, we can see that the logarithmic growth phase is beginning to level out in the US, as it did in Italy about a week ago,” she said.

According to her, this is largely due to the improvement of the situation in New York, which accounts for almost a third of the total number of deaths associated with COVID-19.

In turn, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and infectious diseases of the United States Anthony Fauci recalled that the week is coming to an end, which previously predicted the highest number of deaths.
“It is important to remember that it is not time yet to think that once we have received such an important improvement in terms of successful mitigation, we should relax completely,” he said.

According to him, first of all, we are talking about improvement in places where there were the largest foci of coronavirus, but there are other places where such situations still need to be prevented.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that the administration “sees light at the end of the tunnel” and expressed hope that the country will not reach the previously announced 100,000 or more victims of the virus.
To date, 473 thousand cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in the United States, almost 18 thousand people have died, and more than 26 thousand have recovered.
