The White House allowed the military to shoot at the border with Mexico

The US military deployed on the Mexican border, received from the White house a document authorizing the use of weapons against immigrants-members of the caravan, if they try to break through.

The Central publications of the United States, referring to the Military Times, argue that the order came to the military signed by the head of the White house John Kelly. The document has not been published anywhere, but the White house has not denied its existence yet and does not comment on the uproar.

The document allows US military personnel located on the southern border, to protect border guards and customs officers to demonstrate weapons, threaten with weapons and use it including to kill, as well as to detain people or pursue them.

Donald Trump (whose signature, however, is not on the document) on November 1 verbally stated that, the military can “fight back” if members of a caravan of migrants, will throw stones at the military: “When they throw stones, as they did against the Mexican military and police, I say, consider it an attack”. Also he paid attention that “the military are deployed not for show”.

At the moment there is no exact information how many are in caravans of the US citizens (journalists and human rights activists), who may also suffer in the case of the use of weapons by the military.

The US Secretary of defense James Mattis, confirming the presence of Kelly’s letter, however, noted that the military on the border with Mexico do not have weapons . He also pointed to the difference between the words “to detain” and “to arrest”. “No one can be arrested by the US military, but they can bring the offender into the hands of border guards or police, who will make the arrest.”
