The Venice Film Festival has opened

The 78th Venice Film Festival opened in Italy. The first competitive film was “Madres Paralelas” by Pedro Almodovar.

Penelope Cruz starred in one of the main roles. For her, this film is the eighth joint work with the director.

Among the festival films: “Dune,” an adaptation of the fantastic novel by Frank Herbert by Denis Villeneuve, “The Last Duel” by Ridley Scott with Matt Damon and Adam Driver about French knights of the late XIV century.

They will also show “Spencer: The Secret of Princess Diana” with Kristen Stewart, “The Power of the Dog” with Benedict Cumberbatch, and Kirsten Dunst. In addition, the main program announced the autobiographical picture of Paolo Sorrentino’s “The Hand of God” with Tony Servillo in the title role.

The head of the jury of the review was the director of “Parasites,” Bong Joon-ho.

The Venice Film Festival will run until September 11.
