The Venezuelan foreign Ministry: the United States uses the Caribbean to overthrow the government in the country

The US government plans to use the territory of the Caribbean for illegal operations aimed at overthrowing the Venezuelan government. This statement was made on Wednesday by the foreign Ministry of the South American Republic.

“Venezuela expresses its concern at the convincing evidence that the United States is using the territory of some Caribbean countries to plan and organize illegal and terrorist operations as part of its strategy to overthrow the legitimate authorities of Venezuela and to bring to power a puppet government through direct intervention in Venezuela,” the foreign Ministry said in a statement.

According to the foreign Ministry, Caracas contacted “the authorities of the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and a number of island States to warn them.”
On Wednesday, Venezuelan Vice-President Delcy Rodriguez said that the Republic closes the Maritime and air border with the Caribbean Islands of Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire, which are part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Earlier, the leader of the Venezuelan opposition Juan Guaido has announced plans for the delivery of humanitarian aid via Curacao on February 23.

According to him, the authorities will try to prevent its delivery, but the opposition with the help of volunteers will still be able to distribute food and medicines among the population. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro called the initiative to transfer humanitarian aid “a bad and cheap show of the oligarchy” and urged citizens to abandon it.
