The US withdraws from the Open Skies Treaty

The United States ‘ obligations under the Open Skies Treaty officially end on November 22 – which is the date on which six months have elapsed since they notified other parties of their intention to withdraw from this document.

Thus, the decision, which surprised even Washington’s European allies and did not find full support in their ranks, will finally come into force.

In Russia, this is called one of the steps that undermine the modern system of arms control. Still, future actions will be determined depending on how other signatories behave in the future.
