The US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the US troops will leave Syria “for a certain period of time”, refuting earlier reports of withdrawal for four months.
“For a certain period of time. I never said that I was leaving Syria tomorrow”, – he answered a question of journalists about the schedule of withdrawal.
Trump has denied reports from the New York Times that the US army was given about four months to withdraw 2 thousand military from Syria.
Trump’s administration announced on December 19 that it will begin to return troops from Syria, declaring victory in the fight against the group “Islamic state”. As reported by the American media, citing officials who wished to remain anonymous, the United States plans a quick and complete withdrawal of the military from Syria.
D. Trump himself said on Twitter last week that the US is slowly withdrawing its troops. Currently in Syria is more than 2 thousand American soldiers.
