US Secretary of defense Mark Esper said that the US leader Donald Trump approved the sending of additional troops to the Middle East to strengthen the defense of Saudi Arabia.
Trump made this decision, as he considers Iran responsible for the attack on oil facilities in the Kingdom. According to Esper, the actions of the US armed forces “will be defensive in nature.” The Minister added that the troops will mainly contribute to air and missile defense.
Earlier, Donald Trump said he could destroy 15 different targets in Iran. However, he preferred to impose economic sanctions on the country, saying that “restraint is a good thing.”
On the night of September 14 on the territory of the national oil company of Saudi Arabia Saudi Aramco because of a drone attack, an explosion occurred, which led to a fire. After that, the country was forced to cut oil production in half. The Houthi rebel movement Ansar Allah claimed responsibility for the incident. The US believes that Iran is involved in the attack.
