The US will not hesitate to take action on threats to diplomats in Iraq

Earlier, the US warned that it might close its Embassy in Baghdad.

The United States will not hesitate to protect its personnel in Iraq, whose main problem it considers Pro-Iranian armed groups that attacked American facilities, assistant Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs David Schenker said on Thursday.

When reporters questioned Schenker about the possible closure of the US Embassy in Baghdad, he declined to comment on Secretary Pompeo’s “personal diplomatic conversations.” Still, he said,

“We will not tolerate threats to our citizens who serve abroad.”
