The US will facilitate the withdrawal of Kurdish forces from Syria

The US will facilitate the withdrawal of armed Kurdish groups from the zone of operation of Turkey in Syria, Pence said. He stressed that the States will use all “available leverage.”

“President [Trump] has clearly stated that our military will not be there… We will not take part in the situation militarily,” Pence said. The US will participate in diplomatic efforts to resolve the situation.

Trump thanked Erdogan for the ceasefire in Syria and called him his friend and “a damn good leader.” In addition, the US will not impose new sanctions and is ready to withdraw those already imposed.

“With the implementation of the agreement, the US will not impose new sanctions against Turkey. And when there is a permanent ceasefire, the President has agreed to lift the economic sanctions that were imposed last Monday,” US Vice President Mike Pence said.
