The US will discuss with its allies a possible boycott of the Olympic Games in China

The Winter Olympic Games will be held in Beijing from February 4 to 20, 2022.

The United States intends to discuss with its foreign allies and partners the idea of a possible boycott of the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in China. This was announced on Tuesday at a regular briefing by the head of the press service of the US State Department, Ned Price.

“We, of course, want to discuss this. And we, of course, understand that a coordinated approach will meet not only our [American] interests but also the interests of our allies and partners,” the representative of the US Foreign Ministry said, answering a question about whether Washington is considering the idea of a “joint boycott” of the Olympics in China.

“This is one of the issues on the agenda both now and in the future,” Price said.

The XXIV Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing from February 4 to 20, 2022. The capital of China was chosen as the venue for the International Olympic Committee session in Kuala Lumpur on July 31, 2015.
