The US will conduct an experiment on the ISS in the interests of missile defense

The US Space Development Agency plans to test equipment for tracking hypersonic missile launches on the International Space Station (ISS), according to a US specialized website spacenews.com.

The Prototype Infrared Payload equipment, which operates in the infrared range, will be on board the American Cygnus cargo ship of Northrop Grumman, which will fly to the station in July.

It is reported that the experiment will be conducted while the spacecraft is on the ISS and will allow collecting data necessary for the development of equipment for detecting launches of hypersonic and ballistic missiles. In the future, this equipment is planned to be installed on low-orbit satellites warning of a missile attack.
