The US will allocate $ 11 billion for COVID-19 testing programs

US Federal authorities will allocate $ 11 billion to States for coronavirus testing programs, a senior White House official told reporters on Monday.

“We are announcing that $ 11 billion is being sent to the States to support testing directly,” the official said during a briefing.

He noted that expanding testing is necessary to identify those who do not have symptoms of the coronavirus. The funds will be allocated as part of the Cares Act, which was previously passed by Congress.

The administration considers testing as a necessary condition for the safe “opening” of the US economy after the restrictions caused by the coronavirus.

The US authorities claim that the country is a world leader in testing. On Monday morning, approximately 9 million tests were performed, and within a week, it is planned to exceed the figure of 10 million.
