The US House Committee on Foreign Affairs called on the head of state Donald trump to introduce the second round of sanctions against Russia. Bloomberg reported.
The head of the Committee, Democrat Eliot Engel and Republican Michael McCaul made the corresponding proposal. In their opinion, Washington should adopt new anti-Russian sanctions in connection with the use of the substance “Newcomer” in British Salisbury. Thus, it is planned to “bring Russia to responsibility for the brutal use of chemical weapons in Europe.”
Congressmen emphasize that more than a year has passed since the attack, but the second round of sanctions has not been introduced. According to them, it contradicts the American legislation.
In May, it was reported that the US does not want to apply the second package of sanctions of “Skrypal’s case.” However, the final decision had to be taken by the US President and Secretary of state Mike Pompeo.
In August 2018, Washington introduced another package of sanctions against Russia because of the incident with the poisoning of former GRU officer Sergei Skripal in the UK. London accuses Moscow of involvement in the poisoning. Russia denies the accusations.
