The US to build two new bases in oil fields in Syria

The US military is building two new bases in Deir-ez-Zor province in northeastern Syria, where there are many oil fields. The construction comes amid a reduction in the US presence in Northern Syria, where the Turks have been conducting operation Source of peace since October 9.

As Anadolu Agency reported, military bases will appear in the area of the settlement of Sur. There is a large amount of construction equipment, additional 250-300 American troops, as well as armored personnel carriers, heavy weapons, and ammunition send.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that the US military would provide security in the oil fields in Eastern Syria.

These movements to the East began after the launch of the operation Source of peace in Northern Syria. The U.S. military has increased the volume of deliveries to Deir-ez-Zor. So, last week there was sent a convoy of 170 vehicles.

The US already has military bases in the oil fields. The most famous is Omar, the others are in three other districts of Deir ez-Zor.
