Washington should compensate Tehran for the damage caused by sanctions, whoever becomes the next US President, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said.
“In 2021 (year) in the White House will sit the President (Donald) Trump or another President, whoever is sitting there, will take responsibility from the previous government, including for the damage caused to the Iranian people and economy. They (the American authorities) will need to compensate for the damage, return to international agreements, no matter who will be in the White House,” the Minister said during a virtual discussion in the framework of the “Mediterranean dialogue.”
Previously, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that Tehran would only negotiate with Washington within the framework of the nuclear deal and when paying compensation for the damage caused. Previously, he stressed that Iran’s losses due to US sanctions amounted to about $ 50 billion, which is comparable to the two budgets of last year.
The US presidential election will be held on November 3, 2020.
