The US said that Iran sought the defeat of Trump in the election

According to a published report by the National Intelligence Council, US intelligence believes that the Iranian authorities tried to achieve the defeat former US President Donald Trump in the presidential election in the fall of 2020.

“We believe that Iran conducted a multidirectional covert influence campaign aimed at undermining former President Trump’s re-election chances – while not directly supporting his rivals – as well as undermining public confidence in the US electoral process and institutions, sowing discord and exacerbating social tensions in the US,” the report says.

According to the conclusions of the US intelligence community, such an instruction was given by the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, and this policy was implemented by employees of the Iranian intelligence and armed forces.
