In the US, the daily increase in COVID-19 cases may increase by two and a half times if the current trend does not change. This is the opinion of the country’s chief infectious disease specialist, Anthony Fauci.
“We now have more than 40 thousand new cases a day. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get to 100,000 a day if the trend doesn’t change. And I am very concerned about this,” Fauci said, speaking at a Senate hearing.
Against the background of mass protests and the lifting of restrictions in the United States, the incidence of coronavirus has sharply increased, after which several states including the largest by population, Texas, and Florida, suspended measures to restore the economy.
The United States ranks first in the world in the number of cases of coronavirus. According to Johns Hopkins University, more than 2.6 million cases of the disease were detected in the United States, and the number of deaths was more than 126 thousand.
