US intelligence agencies are monitoring two Iranian ships that may be heading to Venezuela. This was reported by the newspaper Politico, citing sources in the Washington administration.

US officials do not know the exact destination of the Iranian ships but believe they may eventually be heading to Venezuela. According to the sources, Iran’s intention to send the ships towards the Western Hemisphere remains a mystery, as well as their cargo.

As Politico notes, high-ranking officials in the Venezuelan government were warned that it would be a mistake to accept Iranian ships. At the same time, the American intelligence community believes that the destination of the Iranian ships may change. The White House and the Pentagon declined to comment.
