President Trump’s special representative Avi Berkowitz will lead a US delegation to discuss cooperation between Jerusalem and Manama President.
Trump’s special representative for the Middle East Avi Berkowitz will lead a US delegation to Bahrain and Israel this week to discuss expanding economic cooperation between the two countries, a senior White House official said on Monday.
Berkowitz, who is part of a team led by Trump senior adviser Jared Kushner to help with negotiations between Bahrain and Israel, will join Bahraini officials on the first-ever direct commercial flight from Bahrain to Israel.
The flight will leave Manama on Wednesday and arrive in Tel Aviv, where the US and Bahraini delegations will participate in meetings with senior Israeli officials.
The Trump administration has helped normalize relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Sudan.
Trump’s national security adviser, Robert O’Brien, said Monday at a Global Security Forum that he hopes the new administration of Joe Biden will help normalize if he is declared the winner of the November 3 presidential election relations between Israel and Arab countries.
