“We are looking into TikTok,” Trump told reporters when asked about possible measures against the social network because of its ties to Chinese authorities.
In turn, US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said that he will present his proposals to Trump this week.
“The US Committee on foreign investment (CFIUS) is checking TikTok. This week, we will present recommendations to the President,” Mnuchin said.
Earlier, the campaign headquarters of US President Donald Trump accused the Tiktok app of spying on Americans. An ad for the headquarters on Facebook says that the social network was caught red-handed tracking user information in the clipboard on the phone. In addition, US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo did not rule out that TikTok may be banned in the US along with other Chinese social networks on the grounds that they may transmit private information to the Chinese authorities.
