US President Donald Trump said that Washington is considering various options for changing WHO’s funding, including reducing its contributions to 10%.
Trump, in April, announced the suspension of WHO funding. The Trump administration accuses the organization of not responding quickly enough to the coronavirus outbreak. At the same time, US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo did not rule out that Washington will never restore the suspended WHO funding.
“Lou, this is just one of the many ideas under consideration, according to which we will pay 10% of what we have been paying for many years, which corresponds to significantly lower payments from China. We haven’t made a final decision yet. All funds are frozen. Thanks!” – Trump commented on Twitter on the message of journalist Lou Dobbs about the possibility of partial restoration of WHO funding.
