The US intends to receive 1 million doses of antibody cocktails for the treatment of COVID-19

Contracts were signed with Regeneron and AstraZeneca.

The US Federal government has provided $ 486 million to the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca for the development and production of 100 thousand doses of an antibody cocktail to treat COVID-19.

The drug is supposed to be used to treat people over 80 years of age who are at risk. The US Department of Health reported.

AstraZeneca said it plans to start delivering the drug at the end of the year.

This method of treatment became widely known because a similar experimental drug, REGN-COV2, produced by Regeneron, was used in the treatment of President Donald Trump, who praised the results of the therapy.

Earlier, Regeneron signed a contract worth $ 450 million for the supply of REGN-COV2, sufficient to treat 300 thousand people.

Federal authorities in the United States said they intend to provide more than 1 million doses of such drugs to patients who need them for free.
