Washington intends to provide almost 700 million dollars of humanitarian aid to the residents of Syria, and Syrian refugees in the region said the US special representative for Syria James Jeffrey at the end of the conference on Syria “Brussels-4.”
“This morning at the conference, the US promised more than $ 696 million in humanitarian aid to vulnerable and conflict-affected Syrians,” he told reporters during a telephone briefing.
In particular, more than $ 272 million will be spent on assisting Syria, and $ 423 million will be spent on countries in the region where refugees from Syria are located.
The funds should be used to provide people with food, drinking water, education, medical and social assistance. Thus, the financial aid from the United States for humanitarian aid to Syrians reached 11.3 billion dollars, and another 1.3 billion in total were provided as “non-humanitarian assistance and assistance for stabilization.”
The Brussels-4 donor conference on Syria, organized by the European Union with the assistance of the UN, was held on Tuesday in a virtual format without the participation of official Damascus, with which the EU does not maintain relations.
