Washington intends to focus on diplomatic, economic and financial pressure on the Bolivarian authorities of Venezuela, and not on the use of military force. At the same time, as stated at a briefing at the state Department the US special representative for Venezuela Elliott Abrams, the US does not completely exclude the use of military options.
“I can’t speculate on that. This is a dangerous world, it is impossible to predict in advance how the situation will develop,” Abrams answered the question about the prospects for the use of military force in Venezuela. However, he noted that “the US President said that all options are considered, they will always be considered.”
“The power way is not the way we decided to follow. We have decided to focus on diplomatic, economic and financial pressure in order to support the people of Venezuela now,” the special representative summed up.
