The US imposes restrictions on the work of Chinese diplomats

The United States imposes restrictions on the work of Chinese diplomats in the United States; now, they will need to obtain permission from the US authorities to visit University campuses and hold cultural events for more than 50 people outside their diplomatic buildings, said US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo.

According to him, the Chinese government “for several years imposed serious obstacles to American diplomats working in China,” including restrictions on holding meetings, especially on college campuses.

“Today, I want to announce that the US State Department has developed a mechanism that will require permission for high-ranking Chinese diplomats in the US to visit University campuses and meet with local authorities. Cultural events for more than 50 people hosted by the Chinese Embassy outside the diplomatic buildings will also require permission,” Pompeo said at a briefing.
