The house of representatives of the US Congress approved the draft defense budget for 2021, which contains expanded sanctions against the “Nord stream-2.”

The existing restrictions are aimed at companies that are engaged in “pipe laying activities” and insurance companies involved in this. In the new project, they are tightened: restrictions apply to companies for “facilitating the sale, lease or provision” of pipe-laying vessels for the construction of gas pipelines. The amendment also provides for penalties for “providing insurance and reinsurance” and services or facilities for the “technical modernization” of vessels.
This is one of the budget projects. The Senate proposed the second. Usually, plans are discussed first in the chambers. Then they are brought together by a conciliation Commission of representatives of the Republican and Democratic parties. This document is passed to the President for signature.
