The US has threatened the Taliban with isolation in the event of a seizure of power in Afghanistan

The Afghan Taliban movement will face international isolation in the event of a forceful seizure of power in the country, US Deputy Representative to the UN Jeffrey DeLaurentis warned.

He called on the Taliban to stop the offensive against the positions of government forces, which has sharply intensified on the eve of the withdrawal of foreign contingents from the country.

The Taliban must hear from the international community that we will not accept a military takeover of power in Afghanistan or the return of the Islamic Emirate of the Taliban. “The Taliban will face isolation and the fate of an international party if they choose this path,” the diplomat said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

He called on the Taliban to immediately return to the path of a “comprehensive and sustainable” political settlement.
