The US has sold three billion dollars ‘ worth of air-to-air missiles abroad

The US Department of Defense announced that the amount of orders for American-made air-to-air missiles had reached three billion dollars. The ammunition was sent to two countries that are members of NATO and 34 other states. This is written by defense-blog.

Last week, the United Arab Emirates, a long-time partner of the United States, completed a deal to purchase F-35 Lightning II aircraft and requested additional AIM-9X Block II missiles for the fighters. These fifth-generation missiles are the main interest of US foreign customers.

About three thousand such missiles have been delivered abroad to date; on average, 267 units have been sold per year since 2012. The program for the sale of large-scale air-to-air ammunition is designed for the period up to 2035.
