As part of the agreements, several large nuclear power plants will be built in Poland.
The United States and Poland signed on Monday an agreement on cooperation in the field of expansion, modernization, and development of the Polish nuclear energy program. This was announced at a telephone briefing to reporters by US Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette.
“This is the next step in our historic partnership with Poland. We are committed to working with our allies around the world to help them with their energy security, energy independence, the development of alternative energy sources, and ensuring competition in their energy markets. And in the case of Poland, we are helping to reduce its energy dependence on Russia,” he said, adding that the document was signed “a few minutes ago.”
Several large nuclear power plants will also be built in Poland as part of the agreements. “This will restore the competitiveness of US nuclear power,” Brouillette said, adding that the bilateral agreement has “many details.” He stressed that, according to the legislation of the United States, American technologies cannot be used for military purposes.
