The United States has prepared a draft sanctions against Russia in connection with the incident in Salisbury. This was reported on Friday by Bloomberg, citing sources.

According to them, the draft sanctions have been approved by the State Department and the US Department of justice. The new restriction package is currently awaiting approval from the White House.

The Agency reported that the new sanctions include measures against the banking sector. It is not clear why the US authorities have not officially announced the readiness of a new package of sanctions yet. Also, there is no information about how long the White House will continue to consider these measures, the Agency notes.

The United States has used at the end of August the restrictive measures against Russia because of the case of Skripal in the framework of the American Law on the control of chemical and biological weapons and prohibiting its use from 1991. Washington first of all imposed a ban on the supply of dual-use products to Russia, making a number of exceptions. This law provides for the threat of a second wave of sanctions.
