The US has imposed sanctions on current Chinese officials, as well as the regional public security administration of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The sanctions list also includes the head of the Party Committee of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Chen Quanguo, Free News reports concerning the US Treasury.
Earlier, the head of the FBI, Christopher Wray, called China the most significant long-term threat to the United States and accused it of trying to steal American state secrets.
On Tuesday, US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo said that Washington was imposing sanctions on Chinese officials for “restricting foreign access to Tibet.”
Also, in June, the US imposed sanctions against China for actions against Hong Kong. At the same time, President of the United States, Donald Trump, signed a law on penalties for the oppression of Uighurs in China.
