The publication of the list may lead to increased tension in relations between the countries and damage American companies that sell spare parts for civil aviation in China.
The administration of US President Donald Trump is ready to announce the links of 89 Chinese companies, including those working in the aerospace sector, with the military, which will lead to restrictions on their purchase of some American goods and technologies. This was reported by Reuters on Monday, citing available documents.
According to him, the publication of the list may lead to increased tension in relations between Washington and Beijing and damage US companies that sell spare parts for civil aviation to China. This list is included in the draft version of the order for several Chinese and Russian companies that the American side considers “end-users of military goods.” In accordance with the regulation, suppliers from the United States will have to request a trade license from these firms.
In late October, Trump signed an executive order banning American investment in a number of Chinese companies that Washington believes are linked to the Chinese Armed forces. According to the document, from January 11, 2021, American individuals and legal entities will be prohibited from any operations with such firms’ securities. In this regard, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that Beijing calls on Washington to stop exerting pressure on Chinese companies and resolutely defend its enterprises’ legitimate rights and interests. According to the diplomat, the US government “abuses its power to exert pressure on Chinese companies, which seriously violates the principles of market competition and international trade rules, and seriously undermines business and investment cooperation between the two countries.”
