At the end of July, the Fed kept the rate at the level of 0-0. 25%.
The conditions for raising the base interest rate of the US Federal Reserve System (FRS), which performs the functions of the country’s central bank, can be met by the end of 2022. This was announced on Wednesday at a video conference held by the Peterson Washington Institute of World Economy, deputy head of the American financial regulator Richard Clarida.
“We are clearly far from considering the issue of raising the rate. And this, of course, is not in our field of view at the moment,” he said. Speaking about the levels of inflation and unemployment in the country, Clarida stressed that these “necessary conditions for raising the target range of the rate would be met by the end of 2022.” At the same time, he recalled that the corresponding data for December 2022 would be published no earlier than January 2023.
At the end of July, the Fed kept its benchmark interest rate at 0-0. 25%, as expected by the market.
