The US expects full combat readiness of the S-400 in Turkey by the end of 2019

The Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems bought by Turkey, according to the estimates of American structures, should come into combat readiness by the end of this year, the US Department of Defense said.

The Deputy Head of the Pentagon for procurement and logistics Ellen Lord told.

“We expect it to be fully operational by the end of the year,” she was quoted as saying.

Earlier, the White House said that the United States still expects Turkey to abandon the Russian S-400 air defense system.

According to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, Turkey showed “genuine interest” in buying Russian Su-35 and Su-57 fighters.

He also noted that there is a high probability of concluding a new contract with Turkey for the supply of Russian anti-aircraft missile systems after the S-400 systems already acquired by Ankara.
