The US Embassy in Ukraine congratulated Vladimir Zelensky on his victory in the presidential election, expressing hope for a strong partnership between the two countries.

“We congratulate the newly elected President Vladimir Zelensky and thank everyone who contributed to the peaceful presidential elections in Ukraine. We hope to maintain a strong partnership between Ukraine and the United States with the newly elected President Zelensky,” the Embassy said on Twitter.

The US Embassy also expressed gratitude to Petro Poroshenko “for the efforts he has made over the past five years to strengthen the security and prosperity of Ukraine and democracy, as well as to strengthen our bilateral relations.”

According to the results of all exit polls, in the second round of the presidential election of Ukraine won the candidate from the party “Servant of the people” Vladimir Zelensky with the result of 73% of the vote. His competitor – the current head of state Petro Poroshenko – scored 25.5%. The Central Election Commission of Ukraine also reported that by results of processing Zelensky scored 73.2% of the vote, Poroshenko – 25.3%.
