The US Department of Energy refused to provide documents for the impeachment of Trump

The US Department of Energy refused to provide congressmen with the documents necessary for the investigation in the framework of the impeachment procedure of the head of state Donald Trump. Politico writes with reference to the letter of the representative of the Ministry of Energy to heads of three committees of the House of Representatives.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Melissa Burninson, the investigation had not been logged properly. In addition, these are confidential communications between representatives of the Executive branch, so the requested documents can not be provided to congressmen.

She noted that according to the decision of the US Supreme court, the House Committee in the investigation may not have the same powers as the House of Representatives as a whole.

On October 17, amid the scandal, Energy Secretary Rick Perry resigned. It was pointed out that Trump believes Perry was partially responsible for the incident since it was the Energy Secretary who insisted on holding the conversation.
