The US defense Ministry extended the stay of the military on the border with Mexico

The term of deployment of the US military on the border with Mexico has been extended until September 30 this year. On Monday, the US defense Ministry reported.

The Pentagon said that the acting head of the Department Patrick Shanahan approved the extension of the mission to support the Ministry of internal security. It is noted that the military from the strengthening of security at border checkpoints will move to mobile monitoring and detection, as well as the installation of wire barriers between checkpoints.

Recall that at the end of October last year, the US defense Ministry announced the direction of 5.2 thousand troops to support law enforcement officers at the border to resolve the situation with migration from Central America and the suppression of illegal entry into the country. In early December last year, the former head of the Pentagon James Mattis approved the extension of the placement of the military on the border until January 31, 2019.
