The US authorities will have to spend more than $30 million due to the storming of the US Congress

The staff architect of the Capitol, Brett Blanton, noted that windows, doors were broken, graffiti was applied to various surfaces; also, some statues and murals need cleaning.

The cost of repairs and other needs connected with the January 6 invasion of the Capitol in Washington will exceed $30 million. Such estimates were presented to US lawmakers on Wednesday by the Capitol state architect, Brett Blanton.

The Blanton Office is responsible for carrying out various maintenance and operation activities for the specified complex of buildings. The specialist took part in the hearings before the House Appropriations Committee of the US Congress. He sent a written statement to the congressmen, which clarifies that $30 million has already been allocated for the needs related to the consequences of the storming of the Capitol.

The specialist noted that as a result of the incident, windows, doors were broken, graffiti was applied to various surfaces. Have been damaged or needs to be cleaned some of the statues and frescoes.

Blanton added that the total costs are likely to “be significant and exceed” the amount previously approved. According to the expert, this includes spending on the construction and maintenance of fences in the center of Washington. Blanton is also asking lawmakers to allocate funds for the examination. It should allow us to decide what additional measures should be taken to prevent new incursions into the US Congress building.
