The US approved the first drug for the treatment of COVID-19

The drug from Gilead Sciences is approved for patients who require hospitalization.

The US Regulatory authorities approved the first drug for the treatment of COVID-19.

This is redelivered, an antiviral drug administered intravenously. Gilead Sciences said that its drug is approved for people aged 12 and older who require hospitalization due to coronavirus infection.

The company assigned the commercial name Veklury to the drug.

A major study in the US found that the drug reduces recovery time by five days – from an average of 15 to 10.

Since spring, the drug is allowed to be used in particularly severe cases. It suppresses the action of the substance that the virus uses to create copies.
