The US and the UK are preparing new sanctions against Russia

The United States and the United Kingdom are preparing additional sanctions against Russia for “violating the ban on the use of chemical weapons,” Bloomberg reported, citing sources.

According to the source, US President Joe Biden may consider introducing restrictions against the Russian national debt as an extreme step.

At the same time, it is claimed that the American leader is ready to take such a step only if Russia “again violates this ban.” According to Bloomberg, European partners will support Washington.

In particular, the British authorities intend to insist that the OPCW continue to exert pressure on Moscow. Shortly, London will discuss possible measures with Paris and Berlin.

The agency calls sanctions against “Russian oligarchs” an alternative to this option. It is noted that the United States can use the “Magnitsky Act,” which allows you to impose restrictions on persons who, according to the American authorities, are involved in human rights violations or corruption.
