The United States will transfer to Saudi Arabia an additional three thousand militaries, two batteries of anti-aircraft missile system Patriot and one THAAD. This is stated in a statement issued on Friday by the Pentagon.
“US Secretary of defense Mark Esper authorized the transfer of another 3,000 troops to Saudi Arabia, two fighter squadrons, two Patriot batteries, one THAAD,” the text notes.
In addition, the US has transferred strategic bombers B-52 Stratofortress at the British air force base Fairford, the aircraft will take part in maneuvers in Europe. The official representative of the US air force command in Europe and Africa Troy Davis said on Friday.
He stressed that the bombers had left Barksdale air force base, Louisiana, and arrived in the UK on Thursday for “flight exercises.” “The deployment [of bombers] includes joint exercises in the area of responsibility of the European command of the US armed forces to improve the level of compatibility of bombers, — said Davis. – Joint maneuvers with partners, allied powers and aviation units of the US air force contribute to the combat readiness of the contingent stationed [in Europe], as well as allow us to build a strong and strategic relationship necessary to solve a wide range of global problems, ” – said the representative of the command.
“The bombers will not carry real weapons during the exercises. If the combat weapons will be used in the framework of operational tasks, it will be carried out in coordination with the host country,” he concluded.
In March this year, the United States has already moved a group of six strategic bombers B-52 at the air force base Fairford. They stayed there for a month before leaving the UK.
